  2. Sound when an event occurs

One feature, which has been constantly neglected so far is -- sound --. The idea is to connect a sound with a certain event, usually when a time interval is over.

To emphasize, that I'm not alone in this wish, I'm summarizing the threads which has also expressed this issue:

    • (37 Votes) Pomodoro settings : - sound notification when the break is over
    • (3 Votes) Tag Reminder as New Window : - a window pop up with sound.
    • (6 Votes) Pomodoro Timer steals focus: use system tray pop up as an option : a sound could be played to emphasize…

  3. conditional autotags

If would be incredibly helpful if the autotags could use conditional logic/rules. Some examples are:

I would like to append the autotag 'OvertimeRate' to anything in work tags that are matched between 7pm and 7am so I can bill at different rates.

I would like an autotag only be applied if Tag matching a specific word is not present. This way I will no longer have to spend time checking my timesheet for double billing.

Thank you for the great product.

We should talk about each problem separately, but for tags, do this:

Click on tag timeline to select it. In filter below type:

    start<7am or start>7pm

This will include all tags for those times. On right side of Filter box, click on down arrow, choose Add to autotag. Create autotag 'OvertimeRate', then in Autotag editor make it into Append tag.

  4. Button to clear timeline filter

Can 'X' button in the filter text box to clear the current filter and return to showing all timeline data.

  6. Save and show screenshots for google chrome

I can see screenshots for many apps but nothing for google chrome. I would like to see a screenshot of what I was browsing. At least I wish I'd have the full link to those pages.

  7. Automatic fill in-between tagged acitvities

I use files and filter tags to categorize my time. after I've done this I'm often left with a lot of small strips of tagged time with a lot of small untagged time in between, as shown in the screenshot. In order to know the full time I spent on the activities I need to manually expand the tags to fill the entire time. It would be nice to have an option when we right-click on a selected area, to automatically expand the tags to fill the in-between untagged time according to the surrounding tag. There could be a treshold…

  8. Saving filter / search request

It would be nice to be able to save filters (or searches, or finds, or whatever you call the box when you Ctrl-F) WITHOUT saving them as an AutoTag.

As far as I can tell, this isn't something that you can do right now on the desktop version.

If I write a complex search string (or even not that complex, but hard to remember) that I expect to use again, the only thing I can do is save it as a text file and copy and paste it back when I next need it.

    Thanks

  9. More shortcuts please...

It would be nice to be able to use more shortcuts. For example: Create Autotag rule, Copy Autotags to tag timeline etc. The ideal solution would be to have the opportunity to assign shortcut to every function.

  11. Statistics or weekdays and hour of a day

    Hello,

I would like to be able to see usage statistics about different weekdays (i.e. Monday, Sunday...) in a given period (i.e. last year).

I would also like to be able to see usage statistics about different hours of a day (i.e. from 12:00 to 13:00) in a given period (i.e. last year).

  13. Reports including start and end times

ManicTime is the only automatic time tracking program that meets all of my needs, except one. As a Behavior Analyst, I bill Medicaid and other government funded services, which require that I show the start and end times of my service on a spreadsheet. What I have to do is go back and transfer my times into a spreadsheet. ManicTime makes this easier than other services but this still takes time to do so for each client.

I know, given that most time tracking programs don't offer this option, most users only need total hours. Still, I am adding it…

  14. Desktop Widget

The one thing that keeps me from benefiting from using manictime as thoroughly as I could is the stopwatch feature. I don't always get popups reminding me to change. I'd like something similar to Toggl desktop widget where I could easily view what I'm being tracked automatically as doing (autotagged etc), as well as the current manual "stopwatch" tag I've set.

  17. iphone App

App for logging time off the computer like meetings, webex, conferences, calls. All this should be as easy as using ManicTime on the desktop and also add this time to the computer app automatically.

  18. Differentiate between javaw.exe processes

    Hi,

A lot of applications are using the JVM these days. It would be great if ManicTime could differentiate between different javaw.exe processes. Currently it clumps them all up to the same program, but they even are different processes. Only the program file name (javaw.exe) is the same. SS: http://i.imgur.com/D0UZoCJ.png

Here is a pointer on how to differentiate the processes in windows - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13288787/get-command-line-of-a-java-process , I do not know .NET though and there might be better ways.

Great tool, thanks a bunch! Am using free, but am planning to buy premium if this works!

    Android version now supports:
    -Tags / Stopwatch
    -Phone call tracking
    -Phone usage (including application tracking)
-Location tracking (similar to now discontinued Moves app)

I think that covers most of the suggestions in this thread, so I suggest new requests are opened for more specific features.

  20. I'd like to have a Linux-Version of ManicTime

<quote from Last Years Request Page: http://bit.ly/1J2m4Ns>
As often requested in the old Forum, there are quite a few People that like to see a Linux-Version of ManicTime. Main-Focus may be Ubuntu for greatest audience.
I'm a Software-Developer and currently ManicTime is the only reason I don't switch to Linux as Develoment Enviroment. Since I know ManicTime, I can't imagine to work without it ;(
At best, you can modify the Windows-Version to run on Mono (Open Source .NET-runtime environment). This may work with very little effort.
Greatest challenge would be to read address-bar of browsers on the different gui…

We have Linux tracker (tracking apps, browser usage with our browser plugin and screenshots), Linux server and now also cloud option.
So there are two ways to use it on the Linux, either with on premise server or our cloud.

We realize that this does not satisfy everybody supporting this idea, but we need suggestions for more specific ideas.
So we suggest more specific feature ideas are opened, so we can see which features are most desired and work on that.

  • Don't see your idea?
