Compact design choice
The new design of ManicTime 2024.3 may look modern, but it wastes a lot of space with margins and padding that make the timeline and lists look crammed while lots of space is wasted with non functional elements.
It really needs a compact option where white margins and padding are reduced to a minimum like before. Especially for Laptop displays that have small size, the new design is a step backwards.

The new design is a step backwards for those who those who rely on consistency and predictability.
Not against dark mode per-se, but the UI elements are just wasteful of space and not an improvement.

After the update and opening 2024.3.2.2 I got a headache right away (no joke).
That blue background in dark mode is too much. The thick blue borders. Please smaller border, less space around etc. The old UI was good. -

YES! I was shocked when the update completed and this hideous (in my view) new design appeared. Ugh. The "appification" of everything continues... (sigh)
The buttons in the top row are way too big, and yes, the padding is such a waste. Is this designed to only be used on touch-screens? I know I might seem "old-fashioned", but I do think most people doing WORK are using a mouse/trackpad pointer to point-and-click on stuff.
Additionally, the rounded-corners are also space-consuming without any user benefit.
