    Hi Manic Time Team,
Thanks for reviewing this suggestion. I guess we need to lobby Microsoft to make the data available so that a plugin could be written :-)
I've created a suggestion with microsoft feedback hub here: https://aka.ms/AAh4k4t

I'd like to see something in this area, perhaps bands aren't the right mechanism, I'd be pretty happy with the idea in one of my earlier comments... Have the option to use different shades of the parent tag so for example, all sub-tags of a particular tag are 'red-ish'

This may be crazy, but how bout a gradient for tag combinations?

Ok How about this: on the 'how is color chosen' dialog, perhaps next to the sub-tag you have the option to use different shades of the parent tag, so all my client X tags are red-ish, and all my client Y tags are blue-ish. (I would like this as the default behaviour, which you can over-ride if you wish)

alternatively set the default colour skipping behaviour (there's a couple of projects I'd like to use the first level tag, but most I want the second level tag)

    perhaps an optional separate timeline?

    * It should say "2 bands of colour (on two sub timelines)" for the example tag. (I guess 3 should work the same way :-)

I think it would be great to be able to (optionally) show all tag colours at once.

    eg, a slice tagged by Client1, #Client1-123
could show 3 bands of colour (or three sub timelines?)

I just found the ability to skip the first tag when colouring, this is awesome! (but I have to go into every client and change that, which is what I do at the moment, but it would be nice to have a visual of the client as well as the issue number)

Awesome Idea, I'd definitely use this!

Yes "Sum of Selected" is definitely more flexible, I think it will as-you-say help with other tasks I need to complete. I will be pretty happy with that :-)

That will push this suggestion way down my wish-priority list, but probably not off the bottom.

P.S. Manic Time is awesome, love your work!

For my time reporting, in some cases I need time broken down by tag-level-1, and in some cases by tag-level-2, this may also vary by phase of project, so after initial build, support tasks need more granular reports (tag level 2), but during build the time needs to be reported in aggregate (tag level 1).

To address this it would be great if a sub-total row for all items of the same level-1 tag was an option I could turn on.
Workaround is to keep toggling tag level, (which relates to: http://support.manictime.com/forums/222041-feature-requests/suggestions/9913263-timesheet-basic-advanced-ui )

This ticket also would probably address my need but not so elegantly:
