Wow I'm glad I read this feature request - I had no idea that I needed to install the Chrome plug-in inside Chrome!
Maybe there needs to be some detector in ManicTime that gently suggests - "Hey you spend an awful lotta time in Chrome that we can't seem to be able to nail down - maybe you should make sure the Chrome plug-in is installed!" -

Ah, the Chrome plugin works great!

Which version of ManicTime are you using? If you are using an older version of ManicTime, please use the latest. Google constantly updates Chrome so at some point old versions stop working. But the latest ManicTime should work ok.
There is also a Chrome plugin for ManicTime, which should work even with older ManicTime versions, you can install it in Chrome and see if it helps.
