Cloud based syncing
Cloud-based syncing and access from different machines would be a huge benefit.
Cloud is now available, to use it you must install latest version of the tracker, all available on the download page.
How does cloud-based syncing across different machines work?
We will offer a cloud for those who do not want to host their own server.
For those that want their own server, this will still remain an option, same as today.
I tested TimeDoctor, Toggl, Timely and used RescueTime for 8 months but I was not happy to leave a spy monitoring all my activities, visited web sites, applications used (...) and sending it on the cloud. I am working with sensitive data and I don't want that.
Besides, I am always worried about having my keyboard recorded and linked to the webpages I visit. Too easy to get the passwords (for that reason, I stored the password on a file and just do copy/paste to avoid typing them).
So, I am now testing ManicTime because it is offline and should remain !!
If some people want a cloud, then, maybe a special option or version should be set for them. But the offline version must be kept as a guarantee of confidentiality.
When you know that Google is storing on US servers all your search history, all the keywords you typed, associated with your google account, name and personal data, you don't want that for your everyday activities on your own computer.

I chose ManicTime specifically because it did _not_ have cloud-based components, because time tracking data is sensitive personal data, and I don't want it anywhere else than on the computers on which I use it.
Many other time trackers explicitly advertise the ability to track what _other_ people are doing, which is in fact illegal in many countries. I chose Manictime because there was no risk that it started spreading this information anywhere I didn't want it.
==> Although I don't object to a cloud feature in principle, I would ask that it be strictly optional!

@Jiri: They can host your data, I guess, but you should be expected to pay for it, then!

THIS IS A MUST ... it is crazy that I have to install my own timeserver ... feel like back in the stone ages of IT!!!!!

Can not agree more, and now everyone use mobile phones are very much time, we are very need this function, to record synchronization to the cloud, hoping to achieve as soon as possible, I will always support manictime, thank you
This is great idea. I don't want ManicTime Server on my machine. I want central cloud hosted by your company (only for data).
This would make my life so much easier! I bounce between two offices. The USB key is too easy to forget.
Thi is a great Idea. IF you could just save the database in the cloud or online box especially with all the screenshots, then it can be accessed from multiple computers. I work from tablet and pc and needs tracking on both and more than one smartphone with screenshots.

I would like to install ManicTime Server on a folder in my desktop, but have the data folder (for SQLite) in a custom location. Is it possible?

I thought that previously there was already support (in the pro version) for collecting and storing data in (say) OneDrive on multiple computers, then using any of the clients to summarise the collected data.

The server is different. If I understand the server does not sync, it aggregates. What I want is a simple way to sync data from laptop and desktop without all the multiple input/output nonsense. There are many full cloud offerings, this would at least be similar. I could use a cloud based database but really just want to keep data for two devices in sycn. could even use dropbox or google drive but can't see a way to keep in sync
You can deploy ManicTime server to private cloud today if you like. Just get a windows machine and install the server on it.

Would like a private cloud installation too to track remote, field, and traveling employees with security being very important without having to use a VPN or 3rd party servers that complicate regulatory compliance with regulations like HIPAA.
