Screenshot plugin
I would want the ability to take a screenshot every X minutes where i choose how many minutes and have those tie into the program so i can see what i was doing during the timeline.
v3.6 beta is on the download page. Let us know what you think.

Upgrade should close both processes or if it can't, notify you that you need to restart.
Is ti working ok now?

ok - figured it out, I think.
reading a bit more on support edit on June 21, 2016, the ManicTime service has to be stopped and restarted. And close and reopen the ManicTime Client.
Not obvious or mentioned during the upgrade ?

not working for me ... I just updated my version 3.6.1.x to 3.6.4.0
firstly, I had to create the directory 'Screenshots' under \C:\Users\{myname}\AppData\Local\Finkit\ManicTime as nothing was happening at all
once I did that ( and I do have Screenshots option enabled) MT only took a single screen shot when I close the Options dialog. Has been a several mins now and is supposed to do every 30 secs ...
If I turn off and then on again the screenshot option, and close the options dialog, then another single screen shot (and its thumbnail) is added to the folder.
so seems like the timer is not triggering at all ?

I didn't think I would find this useful... i was wrong. This is really really helpful to improve the tagging of my time. Well done!

Many of the screenshots don't correspond to the task you're doing. It looks like the program assigns each screenshot to a certain period of time. If I'm using Outlook and then switch to Firefox, the first seconds of the Firefox task still display the Outlook screenshot. It would be better to assign screenshots to tasks, rather than time periods. If a task is so short that no screenshot was taken while you were performing it, well, you can just leave that task without a screenshot, it's no big deal.

Can you verify one more time it works like this on 3.6.3. Sometimes when you update to new version the old tracker is still running. Could you make sure both ManicTime and ManicTimeClient are stopped and then try one more time. Does it work the same?
We can't replicate it on our machines, we'll try to get a surface book for testing. -

i have the same issue as ndmobil, i have a surface book with a resolution of 3000x2000 and scaling of 200%. Each screenshot only contains the top left quarter of the screen (with version 3.6.3)
Best Regards

This is super helpful. Like Andreas said, we need to be able to see the screenshots bigger so that we can actually read some of the text in the screenshot. If F12 would toggle a full-screen view of the screenshot, that'd be awesome.
Or add a 'Open Screenshot as PNG...' option to the context menu of the timeline items. -

Great addition, but right now it does not seem to work properly with windows 10 display scaling... I am running my 4k screen at 200% -- the screenshots have the correct resolution of 1080p, but they contain only the top left quarter of the actual screen content.

Thanks for the feedback. On the download page it was incorrectly written, it works with a license bought after May 2015, not 2016.

Tested it with the usb download version. F12-Screenshots need to be bigger, full screen view would be great. Show all screenshots filtered by application would be great. Play back screenshot timeline with left/right arrow keys would be great.

I cant imagine how this should work. Automatically taking screenshot every X minutes? How will be this random screenshot tied to your activity?

From the TimeSnapper homepage: "TimeSnapper runs in the background of your computer, taking screenshots of your desktop every few seconds all week long. TimeSnapper lets you play back your week just like a movie. You can play it at any speed you like, and jump in at any time you like."
Would be cool to see this in ManicTime soon!

This would be a great addition to the product.

A thumbnail image would great! Keep in mind multiple monitors when implementing this feature.
