  1. Customise export formatting

Customise how ManicTime can export time entries (or timesheets), by being able to add fields and separators.

For example, to export time into Carpe Diem Web, the format required is: Tags and narrations in double-quotation marks, and time in decimal hours shown with the word "hour" after.

In this case, the ManicTime user could go into ManicTime's Settings, and set up the formatting for exporting to the clipboard as:

    Time (decimal)
    Text: " hour ""
    Tag1
    Text: " "
    Notes
    Text """

ManicTime users who use other similar time-entry software can customise their export options to suite their system.

  3. Allow Edit Timer Start before you have stopped it

As a user that forgot to start the timer, I would like to correct the start time at any point rather than wait until the timer is stopped so that my information is more accurate (otherwise I need to write down the start time on a piece of paper so that I can edit it later.)

  4. Screenshot difference compression

Manictime's screenshot feature is a life saver. But it also takes up a ton of space using a full separate image for each screenshot. 90% of the time, adjacent screenshots are nearly identical, except for some text on the screen. Huge storage efficiency could be gained by using difference calculation between screenshots.

    For example:
    1. Every 10 minutes, take a fresh screenshot. Store it as a png like normal.
    2. Every 15 seconds thereafter, take a new screenshot to memory
    3. Using a library like ImageMagick, calculate the subtraction from the most recent png screenshot and the new screenshot in…

  8. Linux Client - Fully Local UI

Currently, the Linux client lacks its own UI - it must be used with a separate server to act as its UI. The problem is, if you're already using a remote central server to coordinate multiple clients you can't run that server locally - and having to depend on a remote server as the only form of UI makes it impossible to work while offline (i.e. on flights, out in the field, etc). Furthermore, the only way to use screenshots is by syncing them - which will consume an immense amount of additional data, which may not be feasible if…

  9. Copying and merging DB of day time sheet

With Covid-19 lockdowns, I have been working on my machine at home. Is there is simple way to extract the data base information for the daily sheets into a file that I can carry into my work, and merge with my main machine's data? Neither machine will be "on" unless the other is "off". I don't think that the "server" solution will help me. The KB articles suggest that the data is not combined when it is transferred. It suggests if transfer is used, the existing data will be over-written.

What you could do is backup on one machine, sync via dropbox or similar and restore on the other.

But you would have to do this each time you move.

And as mentioned, cloud or MT Server would also help.

  10. Removal of Jira support on free version

I understand that you decide which features are supported in the free version, but I do not think it is fair to remove a feature that was working fine (integration with Jira) when I do a software update, without any warning.
What is the last version that supports this feature on how can I downgrade ?

  11. Scroll through screenshots

As far as I can tell, you can only show screenshots either by hovering over the timeline or hovering over the left panel. I'd like to be able to highlight an item on the left panel and have the screenshot appear, and then, if you scroll down using arrow keys, the screenshot of the highlighted row shows.

  13. Compatibility through WineHQ

Afaic, ManicTIme is focused in Windows machines, with a tracker available for the other platforms. So someone on these other platforms can use the service (even though a bit cumbersomely compared to windows) even without a full port that we would like.

The hickup in this, is that if he wants to use the WIndows App (let's admit it is way more useful for individuals than the server web page) he has to launch a VM every time.

Having said these, understanding that a full port to other platforms can be costly for the ManicTime Team, I would like to…

we would love to make a linux client, but it would take a lot of time.

We are not experts on Linux, looking at WineHQ it looks like it could work, but based on our experience with .net/WPF on Windows... lets just say we have problems with it on Windows, I can only imagine how many problems would there be with WineHQ.

If anybody has experience with this and could help us let us know, but for us to really support this properly is too much work.

  14. fix the software for Linux version

In Ubuntu version of OS has many bugs, the data isn't sent to the server. It always shows error even though I used a upgraded license.

  16. Go off the record until configured time

I work different shift patterns and use the computer for personal as well as business. I'd like the ability to go off record until a pre-configured time, i.e. until I start work the following day. My PC usage often goes past midnight, so go off record until tomorrow doesn't work. I'd like the ability to set a default go on record time within configuration, then within the system tray icon "Go of record until" menu have a 5th option called "Until xx:xx" where xx:xx is the pre-configured time.

I'd also like a 6th menu option called something like "Until ??:??".…

  19. [security] add client verification of server certificate

Allow the client to require a specific certificate or certificate authority on the server. Manictime carries a lot of potentially sensitive information for me. In theory if someone wanted, they could create a server that would accept any credentials from a manic time client and accepts the entire upload by pretending to be the server the client normally connects to. This would allow the client to validate that the server is in fact who is expected. And as a result stop this potential information leak.

On a more practical note where would this be useful:
    You have a laptop that…
